Glucosamine is naturally occurring within the joints of the body; it plays a vital part in the formation of cartilage and is the basis of the synthesis of several important macromolecules (including glycoproteins, glycolipids and glycosaminoglycans) which can be found in the synovial fluid, cartilage, tendons, ligaments and muscles.
Glucosamine is not present in significant amounts in most diets and is rarely found in natural food sources. Supplemental sources are derived from the shells of shrimp, lobster, and crab.
Cartilage can break down resulting in joint friction, pain and stiffness. Taking Glucosamine as a supplement can help with cartilage formation and prevent this breakdown. Glucosamine Sulphate supplements aid the body’s natural resources, helping to inhibit deterioration of the cartilage and so supporting healthy joints.
